Automotive Technology
Our Automotive Technology program is a comprehensive training program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in the automotive industry. Recognized and certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), our program ensures that students receive top-notch education and hands-on training in line with industry standards.

ASE Certification: Our program is proudly ASE-certified, signifying our commitment to excellence in automotive education and ensuring our students are equipped for employment as entry-level technicians or to pursue advanced technical training programs.

Comprehensive Curriculum: Students engage in a well-rounded curriculum covering engine repair, brakes, electrical systems, parts replacement, diagnostics, billing, and more.

State-of-the-Art Facilities: Our automotive shop at Quincy High School features sophisticated diagnostic and emissions testing equipment, providing our students with comprehensive training to repair both domestic and foreign vehicles.
Post-Graduate Opportunities
While our students are prepared to immediately find work in the automotive industry, many shops require additional training from 1-2 year programs and/or specialized certifications from industry-specific manufacturers or in particular systems such as engines, bodywork, or diagnostics.
Students may also choose to train to work in related fields such as heavy equipment, transportation, and aircraft maintenance.
Careers
About 28% of auto technicians work at auto repair shops. About 33% work at car dealerships. About 8% work at auto parts, tire, and accessories stores, and 11% are self-employed.
Auto techs also own repair garages, service government agency vehicles, perform private vehicle pool maintenance, and provide support activities for road transportation.
Automotive skills may be transferred to other industries including heavy equipment, transportation, airplanes, and industrial applications.
Average Salary
Massachusetts auto technicians earn an average salary of $53,330 which is higher than the national average. Technicians with specialized in-demand skills, training, and master certifications can earn an average of $66,281 or more.
Industry/Career Outlook
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the automotive industry is experiencing steady growth, with a demand for skilled technicians expected to continue. The BLS projects a 4% increase in employment for automotive service technicians and mechanics over the next decade.
The best opportunities will go to technicians with post-high school training, specialized skills and certifications, and experience.
Equipment/Software Training
Students will learn to use our 25 diagnostic workstations, including a General Motors On-Board Diagnostic System Trainer with mobile table, Atech Automotive Electricity Course Board, Atech Advanced Electrical Light System Trainer, Atech Engine Performance Trouble Shooting Trainer, and an Atech Advanced Electrical Trainer for power locks/windows/doors & seats.
